Tell us a little bit about where you are now after graduating from the ACES programme?
I am currently a PhD student at the Department of Biology at the University of Crete in Greece. My
PhD topic is on fish welfare and humane slaughter methods for Mediterranean aquaculture.
How was your ACES experience and how did it contribute to
your personal and professional development in the aquaculture industry?
ACES has given me the opportunity to be immersed in different fields under aquaculture. I was also able to build a good network with my fellow classmates and other ACES alumni, and especially with our professors, lecturers and other experts and staff that have become an integral part of the whole programme. Because of aces, I was able to be enrolled here in Greece and pursue my PhD studies.
Best part about being an ACES student?
You learn, meet experts in various fields, you travel and it will open a lot of opportunities for career growth.
Most challenging part of the ACES programme?
Cultural differences and language barriers, not just with classmates but with living in different countries.
Any advice for current and prospective ACES students?
For current student, we joined ACES primarily to excel in our academic grades, but don't forget to enjoy the journey. Learning in ACES is not just from the classes we attended, but you will also get valuable lessons from outside the four corners of the classroom.
For prospective ACES students, it will be the best decision that you will make in your life!
