ACES Year 2021-2023/Cohort 7

Tell us a little bit about where you are now after graduating from the ACES programme?

After completing the ACES programme, I went back to my country and continued teaching my students at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Bangladesh. Following this, I am excited to share that I got a PhD opportunity at the renowned University of Canberra, Australia with a prestigious scholarship for international students. I am now a PhD scholar and working on fish health and genetics. I am extremely excited about this new journey in my life.

How was your ACES experience and how did it contribute to
your personal and professional development in the aquaculture industry?

ACES was an amazing journey, and it really contributed a lot to my personal and professional development. Through this programme we got diverse experiences and exposure to European aquaculture which is really important for me to develop my career in the field. Since I am keen to develop my academic career in aquaculture, it was a great opportunity to learn from some of the world’s best academics, researchers and scientists in this field. Personally, it has changed my perspective towards life and made me realise what I am truly capable of. Moreover, I made some amazing friends from different parts of the world.

Best part about being an ACES student?

The best thing about ACES is that this programme was diverse in terms of education, knowledge and culture. I believe the knowledge sharing and cultural exchange throughout the programme made us better human beings than we were before.

Most challenging part of the ACES programme?

Since it is a mobility programme and needs lots of academic and cultural adaptation within a short period of time, extra effort is needed to face this challenge.

Any advice for current and prospective ACES students?

To the current students, congratulations for being part of this amazing journey. Although things might seem hard now, later you will feel this was the best journey in your life. So, enjoy every bit of it.

To the prospective students, don’t miss the opportunity to apply and grab this programme if you are planning to build your career in aquaculture. Hopefully, you will thank yourself later for taking this opportunity.
