Sreeradha Mallick, India
Cohort 5 (year 2019-2021)
Tell us a little bit about where you are now after graduating from the ACES programme?
After completing the ACES journey, I returned back home to India and
continued doing what I have always enjoyed the most, teaching my lovely
students. But like most of us, I also wanted to probe deeper into what I had
learned in ACES and decided to look for research opportunities. Thankfully, I
recently got admission to a PhD program at the prestigious George
Washington University in Washington D.C(USA) and I will be working on
immunity and genetics associated with it. I am looking forward to begin this
new phase of my career soon.
How was the overall ACES experience for you and how did it contribute to
your personal and professional development in the aquaculture industry?
ACES+ for me was both a professional and personal journey. Professionally, the program was a spectacular stepping stone for me as we were exposed to the massive variety of European aquaculture. On the personal front, I finally learned to live all by myself, made some amazing friends for life who are now my extended family, and came across some of the best professors and scientists.
Best bit about being an ACES student
ACES helps us to grow both professionally and personally. The diversity with
respect to the course module and the people around us (classmates and
professors) helps us to imbibe the beauty of teamwork.
Most challenging part of the ACES programme
Cultural differences might seem to be a bit challenging, but if given some time and effort to work on it, I am sure it won’t remain a challenge anymore!
Any advice for current and prospective ACES students?!
Firstly, congratulations if you have already been selected, and even if you are
still considering applying because you have already reached halfway to an
amazing journey. ACES would surely boost confidence in you at the end of the
journey. So just go with the flow and see how beautifully things turn out in the
end by the time you reach semester 4.
How did you hear about ACES and what drew you to apply?
I came across the ACES while searching on the internet. Like I mentioned
previously, I found the course module quite interesting, and that primarily
drew me to the course. Besides, of course, I was looking forward to studying
in such a diverse environment
